Eligibility Criteria
The Eastside Culture Crawl festival is focused exclusively on professional artists in their own studios, producing unique works of art. The Selection Committee is guided by standards of professionalism similar to, for example, Canadian Artist Representation/Le Front des artistes canadiens (CARFAC), the Canada Council, and the Craft Council of British Columbia (CCBC).
IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS about whether you are eligible to participate in the Culture Crawl, please contact the Eastside Culture Crawl administration. We will be happy to review the intent of the Crawl festival, and determine if you are eligible. If necessary, we will consult your artistic peers who are Crawl eligible to review your particular situation.
- To be a participating artist in the Eastside Culture Crawl your studio must be within our boundaries – Columbia Street to Victoria Drive & First Ave to the waterfront.
- You may not sublet or rent out your studio to others during Crawl hours. The Eastside Culture Crawl is a public studio visit with artists in their own workspace.
- Your artwork must be one of a kind and created by you. Mass produced work is ineligible. Consumable, disposable, and perishable items (such as food manufacturers, culinary arts, plants, candles, soap, etc.) are ineligible.
- You can only promote and sell work you have created.
- Each artist registers individually regardless of whether the work is a collaboration, collective etc. If you are operating under a business name and/or collective with more then one artist, each artist must register.
- The Eastside Culture Crawl does not allow you to serve alcohol during Crawl hours.
- You must be open during all the Crawl hours and be present in your studio for the full 4 days of the festival.
- You must be 18 years of age and over
- If your studio is in a residential apartment building you must obtain permission from the building manager. If you do not have a separate/private entrance you must have someone at the door to let people in and walk them to your studio.
- See the Artists Agreement for further details and responsibilities. This must be read and agreed to before you can register for the Eastside Culture Crawl.
