Apes, Punks and 1/1s: Collecting NFTs for Blockchain Beginners

This introductory demonstration will get you started collecting artwork on the blockchain! Over the course of an hour, we will cover the basics: from purchasing and sending cryptocurrency to a wallet to learning about the different types of NFTs and the marketplaces to purchase them. The discussion will also include security precautions and steps to take when determining authenticity. Workshop slides and associated materials will be provided to attendees.

Kate MacDonald is an award-winning multidisciplinary artist now creating in the NFT space. She has been twice recognized as a Top Ten Digital Artist by the Los Angeles Center for Digital Art (2012 and 2017) and has participated in recent cryptoart exhibitions such as Graffiti Queens (Decentraland) and techspressionism’s NFT Now (Kunstmatrix). As a traditional artist, she has exhibited widely, and has been featured in Wired and international editions of GQ magazine. She shares a studio in East Vancouver with fellow artist Les Sears whom she collaborates with as K8L35.
