The Talking Art program take place virtually, with each artist talk being presented online and hosted by a moderator. This program will further provide an opportunity for artists to expose their work and ideas to the public and for the public to get a more intimate opportunity to see work in a variety of media by artists in their communities.
World-Building and Storytelling through Visual Art
Online discussion with:
Join us for an engaging panel, “World-Building and Storytelling through Visual Art,” where a panel of Eastside Arts District artists will explore the power of art to reshape perceptions and create new worlds. Aimée Henny Brown will highlight how collage serves as both a medium and a method for envisioning possible futures. Jaime Giraldo will share his handcrafted, wordless book Ubaratutu, a visual narrative that invites readers on an open-ended journey through imagery. Finally, Kari Kristensen will discuss her mural The Guardians, commissioned by Ignite Pizzeria in South Surrey, which aims to share a story of community identity by celebrating the beauty of the natural environment. Together, these artists will unpack the diverse ways visual art inspires imagination, connection, and a sense of belonging.
